$2 MILLION FOR OCEAN GROVE SHELL RESERVE COMMUNITY AND SPORTS FACILITIES
The Gillard Labor Government will provide a $2 million contribution to the City of Greater Geelong for the Shell Road Ocean Grove Community and Sports Precinct if re-elected on 21 August.
The announcement was made last week by Labor Member for Corangamite, Darren Cheeseman, along with former Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
The upgraded Ocean Grove Community and Sports Precinct will include a pavilion which incorporates change rooms, community meeting space and social facilities.
“This upgraded precinct will mean that residents will have more opportunities for recreation in our local area. This will be a fantastic resource for the local community” Mr Cheeseman said.
“Australians have a great love affair with their sport. Projects like this one show that the Gillard Labor Government is committed to funding projects that support quality of life in our local communities” Mr Hawke said.
Anthony Albanese, the Minister for Infrastructure, said “this funding will build on Federal Labor’s record investment in local infrastructure.”
“This is in addition to our $2 million investment for the Bannockburn Recreation Precinct Development Plan, $300,000 for the Bluewater Fitness Centre upgrade and $250,000 for the construction of a Town Centre Community Hub in Torquay.”
“I look forward to seeing the Ocean Grove Community and Sports Precinct become a reality,” Mr Cheeseman concluded.
This announcement will be fully funded, consistent with the Gillard Labor Government’s commitment to return the budget to surplus in 3 years.
